About Bell Road Automotive
A north Phoenix shop that opened its doors in 1968, an owner who still runs his own diagnostics after four decades, and four dogs who supervise every job. Here is who you are handing your keys to.

Our Story
Bell Road Automotive has been a family owned business since 1968. Andy and Reinette took the keys in 2008 and never found a reason to change what already worked, which was treating every car like it belonged to a neighbor. Most of the time, it does.
Andy puts it plainly: "I have been lucky to do what I love for over 40 years which is diagnosing and repairing vehicles." Four decades of that kind of repetition builds something you cannot order from a tool catalog. It is the ability to hear a symptom described over the phone and already know the three places worth looking first.
Reinette runs the front of the shop, which means the person who calls you back is the same person who wrote your estimate. Nothing gets routed to a call center, and nothing gets approved before you have heard why it matters in language that makes sense.
Our customers come from Moon Valley, Deer Valley, North Mountain, Sunnyslope and the neighborhoods that funnel into the Bell Road and I-17 interchange every morning. Plenty of them started with one car and now bring in three, including whichever one their teenager just inherited. That kind of continuity only happens when the story stays the same on every visit.

Credentials That Matter
Certifications are easy to put on a window. These are the ones that change what happens to your car once the hood is up, and what happens afterward if something is not right.
Gold is the top tier of the NAPA AutoCare program and it is not handed out. It requires ASE certified staff, a clean facility inspection, and customer satisfaction scores that hold up year after year.
Every technician here is ASE certified, tested by an independent body on the systems they actually work on, and required to re-test to keep it. Nobody is learning on your vehicle.
Repairs are covered nationwide for three years or 36,000 miles. If a part we installed fails while you are visiting family two states away, the NAPA network takes care of it rather than sending you back to Phoenix.
We are set up for the Arizona emissions process, including vehicles that have already failed and need repair documentation. If a check engine light is the reason you did not pass, that is the same light we diagnose every day.
Inside The Shop
We are a no nonsense, get it right the first time type of repair shop. Six service bays and five lifts mean a vehicle can stay in the air long enough to be understood properly instead of being rushed back to the parking lot to make room for the next appointment.
A drivability diagnosis checks the vehicle on all problematic points before anyone quotes a repair. Guessing is expensive, and the customer is always the one who ends up paying for a guess.
Domestic, Asian and European, from the work truck that runs the Black Canyon Freeway before sunrise to the weekend car that barely sees three thousand miles a year.
Any good mechanic understands how the car can be a lot like the human body. Small maintenance now costs a fraction of the failure it prevents, and Phoenix summers work against every fluid, hose and seal in the engine bay.
Scan tools, service data and technician training get updated because vehicles do. A late model car carrying a dozen control modules does not respond to troubleshooting built for carburetors.
Beyond The Bay Doors
There are four dogs at this shop and they turn up in our instructional videos whether or not they were invited. There is also an Avon table in the lobby, which surprises people right up until they realize the person selling it is the same one who has been scheduling their oil changes for the last ten years.
None of that fixes a transmission. It does tell you what kind of place this is. We support the neighborhood we work in, we know customers by name and by vehicle, and we would rather be the shop people recommend over a fence in Moon Valley than the one with the biggest sign on Bell Road.

Common Questions
The shop has operated on North 19th Avenue since 1968. Andy and Reinette have owned it since 2008, so you get a business with more than fifty years of history and owners who have personally run it for well over a decade.
No. The Magnuson Moss Warranty Act protects your factory warranty when maintenance is performed by an independent shop, as long as the work follows the manufacturer schedule and is documented. We document everything and hand you the record.
Both. European vehicles are a large share of what rolls through the bays, including BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Volkswagen, Volvo, Saab and Mini, alongside domestic and Asian makes.
17203 N 19th Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85023, on 19th Avenue just north of Bell Road and a short run east of the I-17. Coming from Deer Valley or Moon Valley it is a straight shot down 19th, and there is plenty of room to leave a vehicle.
Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Saturday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. We are closed on Sunday.
